On totally geodesic surfaces in symmetric spaces and applications,

In this talk we discuss totally geodesic surfaces in symmetric spaces, especially on the classification problems. As its applications, we also mention some results on totally geodesic complex curves in Hermitian symmetric spaces, and totally geodesic submanifolds in symmetric spaces of type AI.
